A week ago, we launched the empirical study “Measuring Risks to Rights: A Reliability Study,” and we are pleased to announce the rewards available to participants. We are deeply grateful for the time and expertise that data protection professionals and scholars contribute by participating in this research.
To recognise this contribution, we have prepared the following rewards:
- 1 free in-person participation in the Summer Academy for Global Privacy Law organised by Brussels Privacy Hub;
- 2 free online participations in the Academy;
- A 20% discount on participation in the Academy for all study participants.
We will allocate the free participations through a prize draw among participants who complete the questionnaire. The draw will take place 15th December 2026, and results will be published on the website and on the César and Maciej LinkedIn profiles.
By taking part in the study, you will not only contribute to advancing research on risk assessment under the GDPR but also have an opportunity to benefit from one of Europe's leading educational programmes in privacy and data protection.
We thank all participants for their valuable support and encourage data protection professionals and scholars with experience in DPIAs, PIAs, data security risk assessments, or related methodologies to take part in the study.

Stay tuned! Next week, we will reveal one final surprise for study participants.
The study is a joint initiative of d.pia.lab at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP) at KU Leuven, bringing together interdisciplinary expertise in data protection law, psychology, and philosophy.
The study is part of the fundamental research project: "Risk as a subjective phenomenon. Integrating cognitive science into the concept of risk in European data protection law" which is funded by the Belgian Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) [reference no. G000724N] and the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) [NCN reference no. 2022/47/I/HS5/02457] in the Weave initiative.
